(Tbilisi, September 2, 2002, Civil Georgia) – An anti-aircraft unit of the Georgian Defense Ministry held shooting exercises today in the frames of military excercises “Kakheti 2002,” Georgian Defense Ministry reports.
The excercises are simultaneously with anti-criminal operation in the Pankisi gorge, led by the Interior and Security Ministries. Anti-aircraft excercises are thought to provide indirect response to the repeated violations of the Georgian airspace.
The field excercises “Kakheti 2002” commenced on August 28. Several shooting fields are arranged, in which the soldiers test their abilities in sharpshooting, shooring from the automatic guns, anti-tank grenade launchers, and infantry vehicles.
