(Tbilisi, September 4, 2002, Civil Georgia) – Georgian State Minister Avtandil Jorbenadze criticized report of Energy Minister Davit Mirtskhulava at the government’s meeting today.
The Energy Minister made a report on preparations for the winter in the energy sector of the country. The winter season is the most critical for Georgia because of lack of the electricity.
Avtandil Jorbenadze said that there was no measure mentioned in the report that would enable to avoid energy crisis in the winter that occurs every year. He also expressed concern that the Energy Minister did not name those high officials involved in the corruption that exists in the energy sector.
“In case those officials involved in the corruption are not dismissed I take off the responsibility for the situation in the energy sector that might occur in winter,” Avtandil Jorbenadze stated at the government’s meeting.
The State Minister requested Anti-Corruption Council to reveal the names of corrupted officials who are responsible for the energy crisis.
