(Tbilisi, September 10, 2002, Civil Georgia) – Parliamentary Chairperson Nino Burjanadze stated that the adoption of the new Election Code would be the top priority of the Parliament during the autumn sessions.
“The Parliamentary elections in 2003 are very important for the country. That is why the Parliament should elaborate the new Election Code that will enable the elect the Parliament that will be really effective,” Nino Burjanadze said.
The first meeting of the Georgian Parliamentary autumn session is held today. Traditionally MPs hold the political debates at the first sessions. At this time debates are postponed for the end of September, when President Shevardnadze presents the annual report on situation in the county.
