Georgian, Russian Envoys Discussed Abkhazia Issue

(Tbilisi, September 10, 2002, Civil Georgia) – Return of Georgian IDPs from Abkhazia was the main issue discussed by the Georgian and Russian Presidents’ personal envoys for Abkhazian conflict resolution on September 9 in Moscow, Russian Foreign Ministry reports.

Head of the Adjarian Autonomous Republic Aslan Abashidze and Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Valeri Loshchinin also discussed the issue of lifting economic blockade from breakaway Abkhazia.

Russian Foreign Ministry reports that the lifting of the economic blockade would further increase mutual trust between the conflicting parties. Tbilisi is against of economic cooperation with breakaway Abkhazia.
