(Tbilisi, November 30, 2002, Civil Georgia) By-elections of majoritairan MPs in four districts, including Saburtalo district of the capital city, is in progress.
As the Central Election Commission (CEC) told Civil Georgia, election districts were opened on 7:00 am. The CEC has not received any claim of procedure violations so far.
Elections are being held in Tbilisi, Rustavi, Abasha (Samegrelo region, western Georgia) and Samtredia (Imereti region, western Georgia).
As Rustavi 2 TV company informs, participation rates in the morning were relatively law, but the CEC is confident that activity of voters will increase in the evening.
Observers at the districts in Tbilisi still report controversies in the voters’ lists. However, voters, who were not included in the primary lists, will be able to participate in the elections under additional lists.
