(Tbilisi, Civil Georgia, December 2, 2002) – Candidates from the pro-governmental Citizens Union of Georgia (CUG) won the MP by-elections in two constituencies of Georgia.
MP by-elections were held in the four constituencies on November 30. In Abasha and Samtredia provincial districts CUG candidates won the by-elections.
In Rustavi and in one of the constituencies of Tbilisi (Saburtalo0 by-elections were invalidated due to the low turnout of the voters.
Election watchdog NGO Insternational Society for Fair Elections and Democracy (ISFED) expressed concern regarding the numerous procedural violations during the by-elections in Saburtalo.
