(Tbilisi, December 18, 2002. Civil Georgia) – The presentation of the USAID-funded Citizens Advocate! Program (CAP), which would try to build the operational bridges between the NGOs and the larger public and increase public awareness about the advocacy issues, is held in Tbilisi today.
USAID, two US and six Georgian NGOs developed CAP jointly, as a response to what they all perceive as current needs of the civil development in Georgia.
Advocacy Steering Committee (ASC) is established to guide the program. The members of the ASC are: Save the Children US/Georgia Field Office, “Partners-Georgia”, United Nations Association of Georgia, Public Information Center “Alternative”, Center for Strategic Research and Development of Georgia, Caucasian Institute for Peace, Democracy and Development and Georgian Business Law Center.
The task of ASC is to further develop the national NGOs so that they can conduct issue-based advocacy campaigns
