NGOs Urge for Election System Reform

(Tbilisi, December 19, 2002. Civil Georgia) – Local NGO coalition working on improvement of the election system in Georgia calls the authorities to reform existing system in order to hold the fair and democratic Parliamentary (in 2003) and Presidential (in 2005) elections.

Liberty Institute, Caucasian Institute for Peace, Democracy and Development, International Society for Fair Elections and Democracy, Georgian Young Lawyers Association and other NGOs forming the Democratic Coalition hold the meeting concerning the issue.

The Democratic Coalition claims that the creation of the exact list of voters and the new election commissions will be essential for the holding of the fair and democratic elections.
