(Tbilisi, December 23, 2002. Civil Georgia) – Secretary of the Georgian National Security Council Tedo Japaridze told the reporter today that Georgia would join the NATO by the 2005-2006.
“Georgia can become member of the alliance even earlier in case we carry out reforms in the armed forces,” Tedo Japaridze stated.
President Shevardnadze has also stated recently that Georgia will be ready for NATO accession “in two-three years.”
Georgian President Shevardnadze made an official bid for NATO membership in November at the NATO summit in Prague.
