National Security Council’s Authority Expends

(Tbilisi, January 10, 2003. Civil Georgia) – Georgian President signed the decree on new structure of the National Security Council (NSC), State Chancellery (President’s administration) reported on January 9.

At the moment the NSC coordinates the functioning of the power ministries. According to the Presidential decree the NSC authority will be expended.

Together with the coordination of the power ministries’ functioning it NSC will also be responsible for the energy, economic and ecologic security. It will coordinate the internal political affairs as well.

The President Eduard Shevardnadze is the head of the NSC, Tedo Japaridze is the NSC Secretary.
