(Tbilisi, January 27, 2003. Civil Georgia) – Donna Dowsett-Coirolo, World Bank South Caucasus Country Unit Director visits Georgia on January 27-February 1.
She has already met with State Minister Jorbenadze, Finance Minister Mirian Gogiashvili and President?s advisor for the economic issues Temur Basilia today.
After the meetings Donna Dowsett-Coirolo called the Georgian authorities to fund the projects which are implemented with the co-funding of the World Bank. Georgian government is obliged to co-fund several projects in health care and education sectors of the country.
World Bank official said, while speaking with the reporters today that the administration system of the executive government should be improved. She also expressed concern regarding the high level of corruption in Georgia.
Donna Dowsett-Coirolo will also hold talks with President Shevardnadze, Parliamentary Chairperson Nino Burjanadze, Ministers of Education and Environment.
Together with the key government authorities, World Bank official will take part in a two days’ joint review of the World Bank’s Portfolio in Georgia and discuss the Bank’s forthcoming Country Assistance Strategy (CAS) for the country.
