(Tbilisi February 5, 2003. Civil Georgia) – Georgian President’s personal representative for the South Ossetian conflict settlement MP Vakhtang Rcheulishvili meets Alexander Dzasokhov, President of Russia’s North Ossetian Autonomous Republic in Vladikavkaz, capital of North Ossetia today.
“The meeting will be dedicated to discussion of the conflict resolution issues. I expect this meeting to be very fruitful. I believe that the conflict must be resolved only through the negotiations. This year is declared as a year of trust between Georgians and Ossetians,” Rcheulishvili told Civil Georgia on February 4.
Georgian President’s envoy intends to visit Russian capital in the nearest future to discuss the situation in the conflict zone with the Russian authorities.
The conflict in Ossetia is frozen since 1992, when the sporadic violence in the area led to a loss of control over the region by the Georgia’s central government.
