(Tbilisi. March 12, 2003. Civil Georgia) – Delegation of the Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights Office visits Georgia on March 11-15.
Markus Jaeger, Deputy Director of the Office, and Mr. John Dalhuisen, Private Secretary to the Commissioner will hold meetings in Georgian Foreign Ministry, State Chancellery (President?s administration) and Parliament. They will also meet representatives of the NGOs during the visit.
Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights Office Alvaro Gil-Robles in the report drafted in 2000 the Commissioner drew a number of conclusions and issued recommendations to the Georgian authorities.
To that effect Alvaro Gil-Robles has addressed, in December 2002, a ?Request for information concerning the development of the issues raised in the report of 13 July 2000 of the Commissioner for Human Rights? to the Georgian authorities.
?He [Alvaro Gil-Robles] has not yet received a response to that request,? the press release of the Office of the Commissioner for the Human Rights reads. Delegation of the Commissioner?s Office will try to obtain information in Georgia.
