Russian, Western Diplomats Discussed Abkhazia

(Tbilisi. March 20, 2003. Civil Georgia) – Russian President’s envoy for the Abkhaz conflict settlement Valeri Loshchinin discussed situation in Abkhazia during the meeting with the US, French, German, and British ambassadors in Russia during the meeting on March 19.

Russian Foreign Ministry reports that the Russian official informed the western diplomats regarding the meeting of the Russian and Georgian Presidents, which was held on March 6-7 in Sochi.

Representatives of the US, France, Germany and Britain, which are the members of the UN Secretary General’s Group of Friends on Georgia, emphasized importance of the safe return of the IDPs and economic rehabilitation of Gali district.

The two Presidents agreed to form joint commissions, which will work on these issues.
