(Tbilisi. March 30, 2003. Civil Georgia) – Unknown persons attacked the vital high voltage power line Kavkasioni, which transmits electricity from Russia into Georgia, with anti-tank mine and TNT on March 30.
The incident occurred in Georgia’s breakaway region of Abkhazia. The power supply from Russia was restored late on March 30 after the restoration of the power line.
This is not a first case of attack on the power line. In western Georgian high mountainous region of Svaneti, unknown assailants shoot the line from the guns, which interrupts power supply from Russia to Georgia and cuts off the whole country’s energy supply.
