Georgia, Ukraine Seek Key Role in Region

(Tbilisi. April 23, 2003. Civil Georgia) – Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma said today, while addressing the international conference in Kiev that Georgia and Ukraine must become the leading actors in the security system of the region.

Georgian President Eduard Shevardnadze, which visits Ukraine on April 22-23, also participated in the conference: Georgia and Ukraine in the Process of Formation of the New Security System.

Leonid Kuchma also said that integration to the Euro Atlantic structures is the prime goal for both Georgia and Ukraine.

The Ukrainian President stated that the two countries have a common position towards the resolution of the conflicts in the Caucasus and Black Sea region.
