(Tbilisi, May 7, 2003. Civil Georgia) – Proposal of the leader of United National Movement Mikheil Saakashvili, regarding inclusion of the foreign experts in CEC, was partly supported by the opposition parties, including the United Democrats and the New Rights, who said that they liked the idea but it should be clarified under which principle these experts will be nominated for the CEC membership.
The pro-governmental parties and the State Minister went strongly against the initiative.
“It is dishonoring proposal. If we agree to consider it, we would admit that there are no decent people, who deservers our trust. I am confident that there are such people in Georgia and we definitely do not need help of foreign experts” – Jorbenadze said.
Saakashvili suggested to include in CEC representatives of those international organizations, with which Georgia has close ties.
