(Tbilisi, May 12, 2003. Civil Georgia) – President Shevardnadze is negative about the initiative of the opposition forces to include representatives of the international organizations, particularly OSCE, in the Central Election Commission.
“I think this idea has a bit of humor too. I do not understand why only OSCE [should be included] and not NATO or other organizations. I do not understand the criteria of such choice. It would be better for the country, if we start thinking how to conduct the elections in the democratic way and invite the foreigners as the observers” – Shevardnadze said in his Monday Radio Interview on May 12.
Shevardnadze is confident that the Parliamentary Elections will be held on the scheduled date – November 2, 2003 and they will be conducted in democratic manner.
