(Tbilisi, June 7 2003, Civil Georgia) – At a June 7 special session in the State Chancellery the leadership of the law-enforcement bodies and the National Security Council Secretary Tedo Japaridze discussed the abduction of the UN Observers Mission personnel in Kodori gorge of breakaway Abkhazia.
“If they [hostage-takers] still stay in the gorge, they will not be able to leave it. We search for them,” Georgian Defense Minister David Tevzadze said.
The leadership of the law enforcement bodies has no information about the whereabouts of the hostages so far.
Two UN observers, one paramedic and Georgian interpreter were abducted on June 5, while monitoring troubled Kodori gorge.
