(Tbilisi, June 24, 2003, Civil Georgia) – The employees of the Georgian energy system are on strike, demanding from the government to transfer their salaries.
The debt on salaries totals approximately GEL 30 thousand. The protesters today met with the representatives of the energy system leadership, who promised to give a month salary.
Simultaneously, a protest rally is being held in a western Georgian city of Zugdidi, the residents of which have not received electricity for five days.
A special meeting is due to be held today by the Georgian President with the participation of the leadership of the energy system of the country.
