(Tbilisi, June 26, 2003, Civil Georgia) – Georgian policeman and one Abkhaz died in exchange of fire at the Enguri Bridge on June 25, which divides breakaway Abkhazia from the rest of Georgia.
Georgian law enforcers claim that the group of armed Abkhazians attacked Georgian policeman in the area, which is under the responsibility of the Russian peacekeepers troops, deployed in the conflict zone under the CIS auspices.
Georgian side intends to express protest regarding the incident at the weekly quadripartite (Georgina, Abkhaz sides, CIS peacekeepers and UNOMIG) meeting in Chuburkhinji, Gali district today.
