(Tbilisi, June 26, 2003, Civil Georgia) – President of the US National-Democratic Institute Kenneth Wollack paid three day visit to Georgia on June 23-26 to assess the pre-election situation in the country.
On June 25 he met with Georgian President Eduard Shevardnadze. During the meeting Kenneth Wollack confirmed the support of the NDI to Georgia, hoping the upcoming parliamentary elections would be fair and transparent.
The Georgian President thanked the guest for the active cooperation with all the political forces in the country, adding Georgia should not turn from the way of democratic development.
NDI President also held meetings with the representatives of the opposition political parties during his visit.
