(Tbilisi, June 27, 2003, Civil Georgia) – At the Georgian-Armenian border Georgian border guards seized citizen of Armenia transporting unknown radioactive material to Armenia on June 26.
“It is unknown yet what kind of radioactive material it is, however we suppose that is Uranium. The material is being transported in Tbilisi for expertise,” Leri Meskhi of Georgian Ministry of Environment Protection told Civil Georgia today.
Georgian police seized two boxes of Cesium and Strontium radioactive materials in a taxi during a routine raid in Tbilisi earlier this month.
