(Tbilisi, June 30, 2003, Civil Georgia) – Russia?s President Vladimir Putin said while visiting UK last week ?unfortunately terrorist groups, some of them lined to Al Qaeda, still remain in Georgia.?
?Most of the people [allegedly linked to terrorist groups], which are arrested in western European countries, underwent training in [Georgia?s] Pankisi gorge. If you look for them thoroughly, you can find them even here [UK],? Russian President said at the news briefing in Edinburgh.
Putin said that Russia is ready to assist Georgia in fight against terrorism. On June 20 Putin also said that Russia is even ready to carry out joint military operation against terrorist in Pankisi gorge.
