(Tbilisi, July 5, 2003, Civil Georgia) – Ambassador Heidi Tagliavini, the Special Representative of UN Secretary General in Georgia, held on July 4 negotiations in the breakaway Abkhaz capital Sukhumi with the de facto authorities over the Abkhaz peace process.
Abkhaz news agency Apsnipress reported quoting de facto Prime Minister of Abkhazia Raul Khajimba that the Abkhaz side is ready to renew talks with the Georgian side in frames of the UN-led Coordinate Council, suspended in 2001.
Ambassador Tagliavini also emphasized the necessity of restoration of the Coordinate Council, since it has been created as one of the components of a peace process.
