Shevardnadze Says US Interested in Abkhaz Issue

(Tbilisi, July 7, 2003, Civil Georgia) – Georgian President Eduard Shevardnadze said in his Monday radio broadcast on July 7 the US is interested in the Abkhaz conflict resolution.
 
?The United States pays huge attention to the restoration of Georgia?s territorial integrity?, Eduard Shevardnadze said.
 
Former US Secretary of State James Baker delivered President Bush?s letter to Shevardnadze during his visit to Tbilisi on July 5-6, in which George Bush talks over the Abkhaz issue, supporting the conflict resolution under the Sochi agreement reached by the Georgian and Russian Presidents on March 7.
 
In his letter President Bush thanks Georgia for joining the anti-terrorist coalition, as well as for the support during the Iraqi war.
