(Tbilisi, July 8, 2003, Civil Georgia) – The European Union Ministerial Troika started its official visit to the South Caucasus on July 7. The delegation led by Margherita Boniver, Deputy Foreign Minister of Italy, arrives in Tbilisi on 8 July.
During the visit the EU Ministerial Troika will meet Georgian President Eduard Shevardnadze, Foreign Minister Irakli Menagarishvili, Parliamentary Vice-Speaker Gigi Tsereteli and the leaders of the parliamentary factions.
The EU Ministerial Troika?s visit is in the line of the process of strengthening the EU?s cooperation with the South Caucasus region. The EU has already appointed Heikki Talvite as its representative for the South Caucasus region.
