(Tbilisi, July 11, 2003, Civil Georgia) – Turkish businessman Iren Neki Digi, kidnapped in western Georgia town of Zugdidi, was released late on July 10.
Digi was forced into a car by the unknown armed men, which drove off toward the border with the Georgia’s breakaway Abkhazia.
Unofficial reports say that the Turkish citizen was released after the Georgian side handed over to the Abkhaz side three Abkhazians. However the law enforcers deny the report.
Iren Neki Digi, 26, arrived in Zugdidi two months ago and is involved in the logging business in Georgia.
