(Tbilisi, July 18, 2003, Civil Georgia) – MP Irakli Gogava of the pro-Presidential Parliamentary Faction Alliance for New Georgia accused the Bread Products Corporation of Georgia of monopoly of import of bread flour to Georgia.
Anzor Burjanadze, who is the father of Parliamentary Chairperson Nino Burjanadze, is the owner of the Bread Products Corporation of Georgia.
Gogava said that as a result of the contract with the Georgian Ministry of Agriculture the Bread Products Corporation became the only company able to import bread flour to the country, thus causing the increase of bread price.
At the Parliamentary special session today Parliamentary Chairperson Nino Burjanadze categorically demanded MP Irakli Gogava to present a copy of the contract, under which the Bread Products Corporation of Georgia imports wheat to Georgia.
“I demand Irakli Gogava to submit the copy of the contract to discuss it in the Parliament. Otherwise, he will have to answer for this accusation,” Nino Burjanadze said today.
