AES Telasi Lobbyist Admits US Company will Leave Georgia

(Tbilisi, July 25, 2003, Civil Georgia) – Irakli Melashvili, which is the official lobbyist of the AES Telasi, US company distributing electricity in Tbilisi, says the company intends to leave Georgia.

?The Georgian government did everything to force the company to cease its business in the country. The company refused to accept unfair rules offered by the Georgian officials,? Irakli Melashvili told Civil Georgia today.

Melashvili said he has no official information regarding any talks between the AES and the Russian United Energy Systems (RAO ES) over the sale of the company?s shares. ?T!
his issue will be discussed at the head office of the company in Washington,? the AES lobbyist said.
