(Tbilisi, August 8, 2003, Civil Georgia) – The Parliamentary Committees for Financial and Budgetary issues discuss today amendments to the 2003 budget as recommended by the International Monetary Fund.
According to the proposal submitted by the government the budgetary expenditures will be cut by 65.8 million Lari (approximately USD 30.5 million).
The draft of the amendments also considers increase of the revenues by 45 million Lari (up to USD 21.1 million). The government intends to meet increased revenue targets with increasing taxes for mobile phone communication and construction of the a!
partments that causes the opposition’s protest.
The Parliamentary special session will discuss proposed draft next week.
