(Tbilisi, August 8, 2003, Civil Georgia) – The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) will fund Georgian expedition from the Radiation Safety Service of the Ministry of Environment to search for radioactive sources in the Pankisi gorge.
A 25-member group of Georgian experts will leave for the Pankisi gorge next week, Head of the Radiation Safety Service Leri Meskhi told Civil Georgia.
“The analogous measures are scheduled in breakaway Abkhazia and mountainous region of Racha in western Georgia,” he said, adding that IAEA experts are also !
expected to participate in the operation.
