(Tbilisi, August 20, 2003, Civil Georgia) – The Georgian coast guard seized on August 19 a tanker sailing in the territorial waters of the country under the North Korean flag.
The tanker was carrying no cargo. At the moment four members of the crew stay in a western Georgian town of Poti until the details become clear.
Under the law of Georgia, for the first violation of the border and the rules of navigation, owners of a vessel may be fined by 250 thousand Lari (USD 120 thousand).
