Unofficial Reports Say Four Georgian Peacekeepers Injured in Iraq

(Tbilisi, August 25, 2003, Civil Georgia) – Four Georgian peacekeepers were injured while conducting mine clearing operations in the Northern Iraqi city of Tikrit on August 21, the Tbilisi-based Rustavi 2 TV channel reported today quoting unofficial sources.

The Georgian Defense Ministry has made no comment regarding the report so far.

Georgia dispatched its platoon-sized peacekeeping unit to Iraq on August 3. The combined unit of a 34 person Infantry Platoon from the Kojori Special Forces Battalion, a 20 person Medical Se!
