(Tbilisi, August 30, 2003, Civil Georgia) – OSCE Representative Liviu Bota met with President Shevardnadze to discuss a shortlist of candidates for the post of Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC).
Liviu Bota said the process of selection of candidates might be prolonged, since some persons were added to the 25-member list. However, the OSCE Representative refrained from naming them.
The outgoing Central Election Commission (CEC) adopted a ruling on August 29, according to which the President of Georgia should appoint new CEC Chairman before September 3.
