(Tbilisi, September 6, 2003, Civil Georgia) – Explosion in the office of Gela Kvaratskhelia, the governor of Samtskhe-Javakheti region, in Akhaltsikhe, town in southern Georgia, injured one office employee late on September 5.
“The blast occurred two-three minutes after I left the office. This was a terrorist attack aimed at my life. I am sure that several political parties are behind this attack,” Gela Kvaratskhelia said in the phone interview to the Rustavi 2 TV channel.
However he did not specify the political groups he blames for explosion.

a Kvaratskhelia was appointed as a governor of Samtskhe-Javakheti region couple of weeks ago. He is one of the active members of the presidential-backed election bloc For New Georgia.
One of the leaders of the election bloc For New Georgia and governor of Kvemo Kartli region Levan Mamaladze also blamed several political groups for explosion.
