(Tbilisi, September 10, 2003, Civil Georgia) – Opposition parties protested today against the pro-presidential election bloc’s intention to appoint its representatives as chairmen of the district election commissions.
According to the opposition parties the presidential-backed election bloc, Industrialists and Revival parties agreed to appoint their representatives as chairmen of 75 district election commissions, while the United Democrats, New Rights, Labor Party and National Movement opposition parties will be deprived to appoint their represent!

“This is unfair decision. I call on Chairperson of the Central Election Commission [Nana Devdariani] to reject this proposal. I understand that Nana Devdariani is under pressure from the government, but she should resist,” Gigi Tsereteli of the United Democrats, said at a news briefing today.
