Breakaway South Ossetia Denies Harboring Ex-Security Chief

The Foreign Ministry of the breakaway South Ossetia issued a statement denying that former Georgian Security Minister Igor Giorgadze, accused of masterminding a terrorist attack against Eduard Shevardnadze is currently living on the territory of South Ossetia.

Giorgadze fled Georgia in 1995 after being accused of organizing the August 1995 car-bomb attack on Shevardnadze.

Giorgadze’s application to the election commission to register as an MP candidate in the 2 November parliamentary election, read that he lived for past two years in South Ossetia. However, his application was rejected.
