Netherlands Foreign Minister Jaap de Hoop Scheffer, the OSCE Chairman-in-Office, who arrived in Tbilisi on October 21, met with President Shevardnadze today to discuss the November 2 parliamentary elections.
“November 2 is the most important day for the new Georgia,” Jaap de Hoop Scheffer said at a news briefing after meeting with President Shevardnadze.
He said that much depends on the upcoming elections, particularly the future development of the country and the integration of Georgia into the Euro-Atlantic structures.
During his visit to Tbilisi, the OSCE Chairman held meetings with the Chairperson of the Central Election Commission, the Foreign Minister and representatives from various civil society organizations. The latter acquainted him with the preparations being made for the upcoming parliamentary elections.
