20 civil police officers, to be assigned to UN Observers Mission in Georgia in the near future, will be deployed in breakaway Abkhazia throughout the UNOMIG area of responsibility.
As UNOMIG reports, civil police officers will work closely with Georgian and Abkhaz sides in building trust and cooperation in areas of law enforcement, good governance and protection of human rights.
During the recent visit to Bosnia-Herzegovina and Kosovo under the auspices of UNOMIG, the delegations of Georgia and breakaway Abkhazia got acquainted with the peaceful processes in the post-conflict areas.
Security issues were the main topic of discussion, which included the assistance provided by international civilian police to local law enforcement agencies.
