Davit Berdzenishvili, who runs for the parliament in one of Adjara constituencies from the opposition National Movement election bloc was severely beaten today in Adjara.
The Rustavi 2 TV channel broadcasted footage showing the group of unknown men stopping the car of Davit Berdzenishvili, forcing him out of the car and starting to beat him.
Berdzenishvili blamed local authorities of the Adjarian Autonomous Republic for the incident.
On October 23 the National Movement protest rally clashed with the local police in Adjarian capital – Batumi. Adjara Autonomous Republic authorities branded the incident as ‘an attempt to overthrow the authorities’.
On October 23 another MP candidate of the National Movement Koba Khabazi, who runs for Kobuleti single-mandate constituency in Adjara, was also severely beaten.
