(Tbilisi, Civil Georgia, October 1, 2002) – New National Movement and National-Democratic parties agreed today to assist activity of Tbilisi Sakrebulo – City Council.
At the joint press-conference representatives of the both parties stated that they will not hamper to convene the city council with appealing to court.
At the moment the Central Election Commission is recounting votes cast in Tbilisi local elections on June 2. The votes recounting started after the New National Movement appealed to court, as they claimed that the election was held with procedural valances. Several other parties also appealed court protesting against the violations.
Because of the endless trials and ballot recounting the first session of the new city council, which was scheduled for June 24, was delayed for the unknown period.
