President Shevardnadze will pay a short visit to Azerbaijani capital Baku on October 31 to participate in the inauguration ceremony of Azerbaijan?s new President Ilham Aliev.
Ilham Aliyev, who according to Azerbaijan?s Central Election Commission received 79.5% of the vote, takes over the presidency from his ailing father Heidar Aliev, who is undergoing treatment in the U.S. and will not be able to participate in the inauguration ceremony.
