CEC Chair Controversially Reverses her Morning Regulation on Voter Lists

Nana Devdariani, the Chairperson of Central Election Commission, issued a decree according to which every voter missing from the voter lists should appeal the District Election Commission.

Members of the District Election Commissions and the representatives of the Interior Ministry will double-check the data for these voters and restore their voting right. Only after this procedure a voter can return to the precinct and cast a vote.

The members of the CEC from the opposition have criticized the decision saying it was pointless to change the rules only three hours before the end of elections.

Earlier today CEC Chairperson called on the members of the precinct commissions not to create the problems to the voters who were included in the primary version of the election list but are left out in hand-written ones.

The primary voter lists were double-checked by the CEC as thousands of voters were not included on the lists. It was finally decided not to use the primary, computerized lists but to rely on hard copies – printout of the primary lists plus the voters added later through the correction process. It turns out now, that some of the voters included in primary lists are missing from the current ones.
