Under the preliminary results of exit polls conducted in 500 precincts and among 23,000 voters around Georgia, by the U.S. polling firm Global Strategy Group, the National Moment opposition party leads the November 2 parliamentary elections.
1. Saakashvili-National Movement – 20,8%
2. For New Georgia (pro-presidential bloc) – 12,9%
3. Labor Party – 12,8%
4. The Burjanadze-Democrats – 7,6%
5. The Revival Union – 6,2%
6. The New Rights – 6,00
7. Industry will Save Georgia – 2,8%
According to the exit polls 1,4% of voters voted for none of the party, while 21,9% refused to answer the question. 4,2% of the voters surveyed by the exit poll were not included on the voter lists, thus could not cast ballot.
The U.S. polling firm Global Strategy Group, contracted by the Rustavi 2 broadcasting company with financial support of the Eurasia Foundation, the British Council and Open Society Georgia Foundation.
According to these exit polls only four parties could clear 7% barrier necessary to secure seats in the new Parliament.
