Pro-Presidential Bloc Leads CEC’s Preliminary Results of Elections

According to the Central Election Commission’s (CEC) preliminary results pro-presidential election alliance For New Georgia is in the lead so far.

The CEC counted the votes cast in 430 precincts out of 2,870. According to these preliminary results, alliance For New Georgia received 27,6%; the Saakashvili-National Movement bloc – 23%; the Labor Party – 16,1%; the Burjanadze-Democrats bloc 9,6%; the New Rights – 8,7%; the Industrialists Party – 5,9% and the Revival Union – 5%.

7% support of voters is needed to clear the threshold to secure seats in the 235-seat Parliament.

The opposition Saakashvili-National Movement claims that the pro-presidential election bloc leads the votes as a result of the mass ballot fraud and protests against the preliminary results of the CEC.
