According the to the Central Election Commission (CEC) the opposition National Movement keeps a close race with the frontrunner pro-Presidential election alliance For New Georgia.
The National Movement narrows the gap with the For New Georgia, as the CEC counted votes from the 795 precincts out of 2,870. Below are the CEC’s preliminary results of the November 2 parliamentary elections by 4:00 pm:
1. For New Georgia – 23,1%
2. Saakashvili-National Movement – 21,6%
3. Labor Party – 15,1%
4. The Revival Union – 9,7%
5. The Burjanadze-Democrats – 8.4%
6. The New Rights – 8%
7. Industry will Save Georgia – 6,8%
According to the parallel vote tabulation results (PVT), conducted by the election observer NGO International Society for Fair Elections and Democracy (ISFED), the National Movement is ahead of For New Georgia election alliance. PVT suggest that Saakashvili-National Movement received 26,6%; while the For New Georgia bloc – 18,92%.
The exit poll results, conducted by the U.S. polling firm, also suggest that the National Movement leads the polls with 20,7%, followed by the For New Georgia bloc only with 14,2%.
