Opposition Calls on Protesters for Order and Calmness

Opposition leader Nino Burjanadze called on the protesters to maintain calmness and order to avoid bloodshed in the country.

“We have gained the victory today. The world should see that Georgia will never live under conditions of dictatorship.

Now everything depends on us. We should secure order to avoid any provocations and bloodshed in the country,” Nino Burjanadze said while addressing the protesters.

She called on the Defense Minister to defend Georgian people against provocations, adding that the new parliamentary elections will be held in the near future, which will really reflect the will of the Georgian people.

Opposition supporters broke into Georgia’s Parliament, scuffling with officials and forcing President Eduard Shevardnadze to flee the session hall as thousands of protesters outside demanded his resignation.
