Interior Minister Vows to Maintain Stability

Newly appointed Interior Minister Giorgi Baramidze did not rule out escalation of the situation in the country, saying that “particular persons in the army really create such a danger in the country.”

“We will not permit aggravation of the situation in the country. We will use all legal means to defuse tension. Our opponents have the constitutional right to hold peaceful meetings and express their opinions; however we will not let anyone use force,” Giorgi Baramidze told reporters on November 28.

Recently Interim President Nino Burjanadze and presidential candidate Mikheil Saakashvili also warned over possible counter-revolution by particular forces in the country. However, they did not specify who these forces were.
