Today the opposition leaders, who forced Shevardnadze out of the office on November 23, will announce single candidate for the presidential elections, scheduled for January 4.
Nino Burjanadze, the interim President and Mikheil Saakashvili, who led the street protesters to force Shevardnadze resign, are the main possible candidates for the post.
However it is widely anticipated that Mikheil Saakashvili will be the opposition’s candidate for the presidency.
